Multnomah County has a peculiar process for disposing of tax-foreclosed-properties. I would expect them to just auction them off to the highest bidder. Sometimes they do, and sometimes not.
The Special Program Group’s (SPG’s) first priority is to meet fiscal stability needs. After that, ….
“When the government process is completed a list of property available to non-profits will be sent to the GRC and the HRC which starts their process for requesting transfer of Tax Foreclosed property for low-income housing, community gardens, open space, parks or natural areas.”
Even if one claims agnosticism on tax foreclosures, the non-market disposition of these properties is a travesty.
